Island Cool is embarking on a flavorful journey of growth!

Greetings, dear ice cream enthusiasts!

We are absolutely thrilled to share some delightful news with you all – Island Cool is embarking on an exciting journey of growth and flavors!

Expanding Horizons: Our family-owned establishment, rooted in the heart of Bainbridge Island, has expanded its footprint to three new locations: Poulsbo, Kingston, and Downtown Bainbridge Island. These were the former Mora Ice Creamery Stores. We extend a warm hello to our new communities and neighbors.  For our friends who have shared moments with us at our Frozen Yogurt location in Lynwood, fear not! Our first location in the village of Lynwood on Bainbridge is still thriving and continuing to serve our beloved frozen yogurt.

A Flavorful Transition: As we step into this new phase, we are delighted to continue serving Mora Ice Cream at our new locations until it gracefully runs its course. Mora has been a cherished part of our communities, and we are immensely grateful for their years of love and delish ice cream flavors. For those of you holding cherished Mora gift cards and coupons, worry not! They will still be honored indefinitely.

A Taste of Sustainability: After this delightful chapter, we are excited to introduce you to the delicious world of Snoqualmie Ice Cream, a brand known for making naturally crafted ice creams and sorbets right here in the beautiful state of Washington. Discover their exceptional range at www.snoqualmieicecream.com, and explore the richness of flavors they've been perfecting since 1997.

Rooted in Community: Living on the Kitsap Peninsula, we are proud to be your neighbors, fellow parents, and community members. With a heart full of excitement, we are eager to immerse ourselves in these communities, making new connections, and serving up scoops of joy.

Warmth in Every Scoop: Island Cool is more than a business; it's a family. We are profoundly grateful to our attentive staff for their dedication. As we navigate this expansion, we ask for your patience, as even the sweetest of journeys can have a few bumps.

Questions and Connections: We're here for you, always. If you have any questions, thoughts, or simply want to connect, feel free to reach out to us at any time. We are committed to your satisfaction.

From the bottom of our hearts, we thank you for your continued support. Whether you've already been a part of our journey at our Frozen Yogurt location in Lynwood or are just discovering the joy of Island Cool, we look forward to serving you in our shops. As hands-on business owners, we relish the opportunity to get to know each and every one of you, sharing smiles and stories over scoops of pure happiness.

KITSAP SUN: Mora Iced Creamery shops in Kitsap bought byBainbridge Island couple, rebranded as Island Cool

This article delves into the considerate approach taken during the transformation of your beloved local ice cream shops, led by Bainbridge Islanders Melissa and Chris Jasperson, known for Island Cool frozen yogurt in Lynwood Center. We understand the profound attachment to the old Mora Iced Creamery shops, and we approach this transition with careful thought and respect. As we embark on this journey under our brand "Island Cool," our goal is to preserve the essence of what made the previous establishments so cherished, while introducing premium locally made Snoqualmie ice cream. To learn more about our approach and the path forward, we invite you to read the full article here.

Community, Family, Fun!

We (Chris and Melissa) bought Island Cool in 2018 and didn’t make many changes. We did paint and redecorate a bit as 2019 flipped over to 2020, but how we ran the business and why stayed consistent with the prior owner’s approach (Joe is a great guy…). Then of course, the pandemic struck and there were other things to focus on.

Now, as we’re settling into the new normal and Island Cool is back open in all our pre-pandemic glory (island toppings bar and all…), we’re going to refresh some things and rollout a few changes. Don’t worry, the froyo and toppings will continue to be fantastic. The changes will be more around clarifying and sharing why we bought and love owning Island Cool and incorporating those why’s into how we run the business and interact with the community.

When we sat down to talk about why we bought Island Cool and why we enjoy running the business, it was pretty simple. The themes of community, family, and fun, just came out. We love that Island Cool is a place where you all come for a treat. You bring the family, you bring your friends who come to visit, and you bring you dog for a doggie gelato. Everyone has fun. And the last part, that seemed like it should go first, is being part of the community.

Where we’re located, at Pleasant Beach Village in Lynnwood Center, is not walking distance from the ferry (obvs), and while we do get a ton of visitors in the summer, most of the year, our customers are from the island. We get to know our regulars. We look forward to the cross-country team’s annual run down to Island Cool and back (that’s got to be a rough second half with a belly full of froyo…). We post flyers for local events, support local sports, and serve as a drop location to collect gifts or coats around the holidays. We genuinely enjoy being part of the community and being a gathering place for families and friends to come have a treat and a bit of fun.

Community, Family, Fun

There you go. Not a major change. For now, just sharing. More to come!
